About

In middle school, I was voted “most likely to act like a squirrel.”

I’ve always been an aspiring everything-ist.

Thanks, Leejay Abucayan, for coining a perfect term. Making things makes me feel alive! And after years and years of doing it, and obsessively working to get better at it, I’ve finally gotten to where I am today: better than yesterday. Lol.

Right now, my expertise lies in multimedia content creation and writin’ (and some actin’, and some singin’ and guitar playin’). Sometime soon, I’d also like to learn woodworking, how the heck the stock market works, and start my own business selling physical products (the product idea’s a secret for now, though!).

My ultimate dream/goal is to create comedic original content that makes it to a household-name streaming service. But in the meantime, this is fun, too!

I service the Charlotte, Lake Norman, Huntersville, Mooresville, Cornelius, and Statesville area, although I do travel and offer remote services.

Melanie Lech Multimedia
(2017 – Present)
I’m a video/photographer, content creator, editor, and multimedia artist! Big name clients have included Roush Fenway Racing, NASCAR, John Deere, Boy Scouts of America, and Elitium, though I do plenty of work for small businesses as well.

Co-Founder at Mean Bean Productions
(2017 – Present)
It’s so hard for me to even detail the work description for this… I did/do a bit of everything! Mean Bean is an award-winning comedy group based out of Charlotte, NC, and it is my baby. I write, produce, shoot video & photo, act, edit, manage our web copy and website(s), manage the team, make social media posts and create fresh content, cultivated our brand, and so much more.

Advisory Board at Carolina Film Community
(2017 – Present)
I redid carolinafilmcommunity.com for the organization’s 10-year rebrand and weigh in on board discussions. Carolina Film Community is a non-profit educational organization that reaches thousands across the Carolinas.

Team Member at ScrewUp TV
(2019 – 2020)
While at ScrewUp TV, I bounced around from managing social media to editing videos to event planning. Specifically, I planned A ScrewedUp Christmas Party, a fun holiday event with activities, delicious turkey chili, and entertainment in the WeWork building on S. College St. in Charlotte. I also was a part of the ensemble cast at our ScrewUp TV Live shows and helped write and edit (and acted in) Speedbait, a short film that went on to win Best Use of Line of Dialogue in the Charlotte 48 Hour Film Festival.

Marketing Representative at Summer Sessions at Appalachian State University
(2015 – 2016)
Exceeded goal of increasing student enrollment in summer school via media-heavy marketing strategy; reached hundreds of students with video sketches/shorts; did the impossible by making summer school look fun. I wrote, directed, cast, acted in, and edited videos for the campaign alongside making creative social media posts that highlighted fun things to do and volunteer opportunities for students in the area.

BA Interdisciplinary Studies, BA Theater at Appalachian State University
(2012 – 2016)
I graduated Cum Laude (3.64 GPA) and won the Outstanding Senior Award in my department. While at University, I founded the Appalachian Film Club and created/served as festival director for the Appalachian 36 Hour Film Festival! I also wrote for the school’s satire periodical, The Rotten Appal, interned at AppTV, and was a videographer for In-Visible Theatre, a local non-profit.
